What is a Migraine?

According to Medical News Today, a migraine is a severe headache that can cause you to feel nausea, tingling, flashes of light, or even vomiting. A severe migraine can really knock you off your feet. If you've had a migraine, you understand completely how debilitating they can be. Although there are many medications you can take for migraines, often if you catch the headache in time, you can stop the headache before it begins. This usually takes time to understand the signs that come with migraines. unfortunately, there are sometimes when you don't get a warning before the severity of a migraine hits. In these cases, use some of our tips and home remedies to help you through the migraine.

What Causes Migraines?

This is that question everyone wants an answer to. When you are busy with life, the last thing you want or need is a severe headache. Lets look at some of the reasons you could get a migraine. Understanding these can help you learn what to avoid.
  • Stress or tension
  • Strong perfumes
  • Bright lights (avoid if you already have a migraine)
  • Changes in lifestyle
  • Exhaustion
  • Allergies
  • The Flu and cold
  • The menstrual cycle
  • Eat chocolate or drinking caffeine
  • Alcohol
These are just a few triggers that can cause headaches. We all can look at this list and see one or two things that probably have given us a headache. The important thing to note is that if you are in a hectic situation, take time to massage your head, drink some calming tea, or take medicine to stop the headaches before they come.

Migraine Signs and Triggers

For me, I always know hours before my severe headaches come. I can feel the tension in my neck. Start listening to your body to see if you have signals to alert you to a coming migraine. This can be the difference between a full-blown migraine and a simple headache that goes as quick as it came.
