There was a time where logging on to Twitter meant you had great fun laughing at Courtney Love's tweets. The slightly bonkers but brilliant rants about everything were usually funny and a little disturbing (in the case of the ones about her daughter, very disturbing) but that era has come to an end.
In a courtcase settled this week, Love has been ordered to pay Defamation damages to a designer Dawn Simorangkir after she blasted the designer on Twitter. Love branded the Dawn as a ' Drug pushing prostitute with a history of assault, battery and who lost her children before stealing off Love.' erm, right.
This ranting has not come cheap. Not only is there to be a public statement next week after Love's lawyers failed to get a silence on the case, but Love has had to pay $430,000 (that's €338, 503 in our money) in damages. Damn girl!
Now most of us stick to ranting about our own boring lives on twitter while drunk on a bottle of wine screaming obscenities at the cat - let this be a lesson to us all.
The days of freedom of crazy lady ranting online are o.v.e.r
